This is just a quick post to let everyone know that we are fine.
Some of you might have noticed that Mallorca has made it into the news because, apparently, there was a severe amount of flooding on the island.
I say “apparently” because we had no idea that anything had happened until a couple of people asked us if we were alright (thanks for emailing us!)
Last night it started raining pretty heavily, but it didn’t seem like anything more serious than some of the other rain storms we’ve seen here so far. It must have been worse elsewhere though, because it triggered some serious flash floods.
The main area of flooding was nearby, but not in the city of Manacor. Our city is totally fine. However, three neighboring cities (Sant Llorenç, Porto Cristo, and S’illot) were hit the worst, and there have been 10 deaths so far. The Rafael Nadal Sportscenter (just a mile or so down the road from us) has been converted into a shelter for people whose homes were damaged.
It seems like a pretty serious storm, and the forecast this week shows more rain incoming, so we will be sure to stay safe as we always do.
But again, just to repeat ourselves, we are fine.
For more information and a video about the storm, here is a British news source.
