As everyone in Spain knows the entire system (website) for renewal collapsed and was down for more or less the whole night. The program is first come first served and when it opens on “January 10th” they mean at midnight.
So every single one of us in Spain and all the first time applicants around the world waited until Spain’s midnight – and then started clicking everything they could see. This completely broke and already broken, outdated website. It booted most of us from being able to login, see anything, or finish our applications. Maybe you’re reading this in 2020 or beyond. Either way, Profex is a broken POS and I’m sure will plague us for years to come.
Here I cover how to get past login and not being able to select a region. I’m sure there are 1000s more problems because, hey, it’s Profex.
Trouble Shooting – Can’t Get Past Login
For some reason even after the site came back up early this morning the login is still broken and the 2019 link is dead (as of 8:40 Jan 10th)
When you click on it it brings you to an error message and everything is missing. When you click on Mantenimiento del CV there are critical buttons missing.
Solution:
For some reason opening both at the same time (open Mantenimiento del CV in one window and 2019 Auxiliares in another tab) will usually make it work. What you want is for the Acceso al tramite button to appear so you can go back to the “normal” looking page:
Having both tabs open and alternately refreshing them or logging out Cerrar Sesion and trying with the other tab open for some ungodly reason has worked for me multiple times on two computers.
This is actual magic and there is no explanation for why this should work.
Trouble Shooting – Can’t Select Placement Regions
This was everyone’s problem last night. I could enter my information; hit next – nothing would happen; I could even skip that page and go to the last page fine. Of course if you skip the whole middle bit it means you can’t submit it. You have to enter your placement preferences even if you want to stay in your same center/city.
This was the thing that was broken for everyone. The placement page has you click if you want Spain or Andorra, obviously you want Spain. This does NOT mean “unclick” Andorra – you can’t unclick it. You can only click the one you want.
The Andorra one works fine but you cannot apply through Andorra. You just cannot. You need to apply through Spain. You click on the yellow box and it should take you to the page that shows you which regions you want in Spain. But none of us could get to that page all night.
The troubleshooting for this is (and I’m so sorry) is nothing. You have to wait.
This is a sign too many people are applying at once and clicking on everything. You need to either keep trying (but I tried for 30 minutes as you can see in the picture) and it never let me through. Some people said they got through on their fourth try (eventually it stops loading and you can click again) – they did this 4 times and it worked. I did too, though, and nothing happened.
The reality is that everyone needs to stop. If all of us give it a break and try later then it will work for all of us. But we’re all being too aggressive and clicking way too damned much. Give it 30 minutes. Give it an hour. We went to bed (have to go to work at 8 the next morning and it’s freaking 1 am). I applied for both of us at 7 and it was all back up and running.
Maybe in the future instead of staying up until midnight, go to bed early and wake up at 4 or 5 am and you’ll have more luck.
The reality is we applied 7 hours after application opened and we got numbers 621 and 623. This means less than a hundred or so people got through every hour after midnight. Yes you need to be first come first placed, yes it’s high stress. BUT consider just applying in the morning and letting everyone else battle the futile fight all night.
